My Students

The second-grade students in my classroom are a diverse group of learners that attend a small rural primary school in North Carolina. They are eager to learn and explore new concepts.

Our school is in an economically disadvantaged area and most students live in poverty.

Our school is a Title 1 school. Our county qualifies for free breakfast and lunch for all students due to the limited resources available to our families.

The demographic makeup of the students includes one-third of the students are black, one-third Hispanic, and one-third white. This group of children faces challenges daily - my goal is to make learning as enjoyable as possible.

My Project

Wobble Chairs will assist in keeping active bodies productive and engaged in learning. Giving my students choices in seating helps them stay focused.

Choice is a major incentive and allows my students opportunities to complete their work in different locations in the classroom.

Some appreciate leaving their desks to move around and find alternative seating.

Stretching out of the floor, using a clipboard, or simply choosing a different chair can motivate students to stay focused and compete assignments. When given these choices my students feel they are taking a role in their own education. These chairs will add a valuable alternative to what is available.
