Wobble Baby Wobble

Help me give my students wobble chairs and fidget bands for their chairs to help with their wiggles.

My Students

We are a super busy First Grade family! We love to be hands-on with materials we are learning about. I teach at a very low income Title I school. All kids receive free lunch and breakfast. Saying that, they are very grateful for things that are given to them, no matter how big or small. In some cases, the classroom is the only consistency they have in their life. In my classroom and in my school, we are a family. We support each other in all that we do. My students are very energetic and eager to learn. They love to be hands-on with materials we are learning about.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to be independent, take charge of their learning, and make the choices that work best for them. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: low tables, yoga balls, sitting in rockers with clip boards, or laying on the floor with a clip board .I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. The students make good choices about where they sit, they are more engaged, and get more work completed.

First Graders are very wiggly, but the wobble chairs and fidget bands will help us wiggle while we work.

My students will be able to focus more on learning, rather than sitting still. The Wobble chairs are safe for students to rock without the risk of tipping over and the fidgets bands allows student who need a more sturdy chair to kick their feet against the elastic bands.

Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
