My students need supports for our alternative seating options to help them be more productive and focused learners.

My Students
I have six fantastic classrooms of eager and excited eleven and twelve year olds. They come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. In my classrooms I have everything from gifted learners, to English Language Learners and also students with special learning needs.
Even with their diverse backgrounds and abilities, my students are kind to each other and happy to be at school.
They enjoy learning and are a joy to be around.
We are located in a suburban, middle class neighborhood at a school which is not designated Title 1, which means we don't receive as much funding as other schools near us.
My Project
In our district, the only seating that is provided for the students is basic desks and chairs. Unfortunately, this rigid arrangement is only a positive learning experience for some students. My goal is to make the classroom a comfortable place for all children. In order to do this, I need to provide some alternative seating options. I have bought yoga balls myself, but the middle school population is very hard on these and many have popped.
The stools are much more durable but still provide an opportunity for students to be able to wiggle around a little while learning.
This movement actually helps students stay more focused and be more comfortable. I have two of these in my classroom right now and the students always try to arrive to my classroom first just to sit on them. It would make my classroom environment much better for years to come if these types of seats were more available.
