Wizards of OZ Character Education and Literarure

My students need a novel set of the Wizard of Oz and a Graphic Novel Set to teach integrated character education and Literature while incorporating their learning into STEAM in the classroom.

My Students

These students are among the most diverse in the nation. They live in one of the highest crime areas and in some of the lowest poverty levels in a urban district. This is a small community has a lot of industrial and commercial shopping that supports the learning of our students. However this third grade class is still in need of a strong character education program in order to overcome their adversity. Therefore I am looking at integrating character education into the classroom through literature, using the characters from the Wizard of OZ.

My Project

The donations of Novels, Graphic novels, audio CD and Picture Book of the Wizard of Oz will be used in a variety of ways.

The picture book will be used to introduce the story of the wizard of oz and characterization of each of the main characters to introduce character education.

The novel sets and Audio CD will be used to teach the elements of Literature as well as to connect students to STEAM engineering challenges. The graphic novels will be for an extension for students to begin their own writing and to work with students who need intervention.
