Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hard workers at an urban, inner-city school. All of our students get free breakfast and lunch. More than half of my students come from families where English is not the first language, and in many cases school is their only exposure to English.
My students come to school each day excited to learn and to see what the day has in store for them.
The students come from varied family situations, including some who live with grandparents and some who live with other relatives. I am always looking for ways to keep my students excited about their learning and ways to give them many possibilities in their educational experiences.
My Project
The iPad and the class set of books will allow all of my students to have access to the high interest chapter books that they are so excited to read. Through the iPad students will be able to listen to and read along with story in order to have a better understanding. The class set of books will allow each of my students to actually hold the book in their hands while we read it together, they read with a partner, or they listen on the iPad.
An iPad with a class set of books will help ignite the fire of reading in my classroom since all of my students will be able to read and interact with the book in different ways.
The iPad will also be used to make presentations so that students can share their learning and present their favorite part of the story. With the iPad the possibilities are endless and the class set of books will only allow us to build on those possibilities.
