With Smaller Tables, We Won't Trip and Smash Our Fingers!
My students need 6 appropriately sized tables that don´t pinch their fingers. We would appreciate tables that we could walk between without tripping.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and eager to learn, they just need more opportunities! I have a TK/K class with students ranging in age from 4-6 years old. I teach in a Title 1 high poverty school where every student receives free breakfast and lunch. Many students are not living with parents, are affected by gang and drug violence, and sometimes don't have basic needs met.
Despite experiencing things that are negative in their young lives, they come to school with a smile and ready to learn.
Over 50% of my class are English learners. My students show me every day that despite where they come from, there is no limit to what they can achieve with the right opportunities.
Most of my students did not attend preschool and are not in home environments that provide things like paints, crayons, and clay. In fact many of my students touch a pencil for the first time in our class. I would love a place for my students to create, use their imaginations and be exposed to different types of materials.
My Project
I have inherited very large and awkward tables for my 4-6 year old students. The tables are so high, some students are working with their hands up by their chins or standing up. They are large trapezoid shapes and very heavy. I have tried arranging them multiple ways to allow a flow in the room to no avail. I put 2 together to form a group, yet students smash their fingers in the middle and they are so close together they bump each other in their chairs. I still have to have enough room for carpet area and dramatic play, and these tables are LARGE.
Your generous donation would allow us to have appropriately sized tables that students could sit and work at in comfort.
They would have enough space with these smaller tables to walk between them without bumping each other or tripping, or smashing their fingers. Also, with these large tables, the students are sitting in groups of 6. Smaller work groups are more conducive to learning.
My goal is to make their learning space as inviting and comfortable as possible. Many of my students live in very cramped quarters with multiple families in a small apartment, even a garage. They often do not have their own bedroom, but share with parent, many other siblings or they share the living room as their bedroom. If these children don't have comfort in their homes, you would be helping children for years to come be able to work and learn in comfort at school. Thank you!
