My students are inquisitive, creative, hands-on learners. My students love to share the knowledge that they have gained with their peers . My students come to school each day ready to dive into the science world. They are faced with having multiple families (6+ people) living in a small home, a few don't have running water and even more are going hungry. Despite these challenges, the students come to school each day with smile on their faces, ready to take on the world!
My kids come from a high needs area so they need experiences that they can participate in to help them expand their background knowledge and their desire to be involved in more adventures.
The students that I see each day have big dreams to become scientists, explorers, doctors, biologists - the list is endless. I feel my job is to help them realize their dreams.
My Project
The use of a classroom whiteboard is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in science. The whiteboard allows me to see exactly what the students are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. The whiteboard is also used to help the students organize their assignments. We also use the whiteboard for classroom competitions so students are able to earn extra points on assignments.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
The use of a whiteboard in a classroom is priceless. From putting up objectives so students know what to expect when they walk in the room, to posting reminders, writing notes down for students to copy, students coming up and completing problems on the board and so much more. As of now, I do not have any board to write on except the SmartBoard. I know that it is a wonderful tool to have but unfortunately a SmartBoard doesn't always work and it cannot replace the value of being able to write down specific points for students on the fly. There isn't anywhere in my room to write down the students' daily objectives, so instead, I was printing them and stapling them to a bulletin board every month or so.
By donating to this project, you will be giving the students the opportunity to increase their academic achievement, expand their science literacy and build self-confidence.
