My Students

This year my incoming class will be made up of a group of energetic, joyful, and hardworking first graders. I have not had the pleasure of teaching them YET, but I am excited and anxious to begin. These students are very diverse in their needs and come from different types of homes. The parents are not always able to contribute to the classroom demands and supplies.

The students at Needham Elementary work hard to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to learn!

My Project

Having this large rug will open up so many possibilities for my classroom and serve many different purposes.

In our classroom it will be the place where we come together as a community to share, read, and learn.

First and foremost the rug will give each student a comfortable, clean place to sit during whole group lessons. This will also allow me to be strategic in the way that they are grouped on the carpet, which allows for differentiated partner talk and quick grouping. These rugs also have a phenomenal way of cutting down on wasted time, when kids spend precious moments searching for a place to sit.
