Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students who are in a special education setting. My students come from low socioeconomic settings and oftentimes require additional supports that are not provided by local district funding. These kids are full of hope and a desire to prove they are able to learn just like their differently able peers. This desire is showcased in the way that they come to school with a willing spirit. My students, along with all students deserve equal opportunity to learn.
My Project
At every school site, there are dozens of teachers putting in copy request forms on a daily basis and usually, have to wait 2-3 days before receiving their copies back. Having an in class printer will provide easy access to lesson materials in an instant. Sometimes students complete a lesson and teachers find they need more supplemental materials in order for students to understand concepts being taught. Having an old printer, that only copies makes it impossible to give students handouts before moving on to the next lesson. Teaching in a special education classroom requires last minute additions to lessons which would be possible with an in class printer!
