My students need paintbrushes of good quality! I would really love to be able to offer my K-6th graders canvas, and sculpture making supplies giving them a good quality experience of what art is.
This is the first year ART is available at my elementary school. My students come from low income families so asking for supplies from the parents isn't an option. We have a very low stock of supplies and furniture preventing us from making a variety of mediums of art. Our school is old and has a small kitchen with microwaves to keep the food warm until its time for that grades lunch.
Many teachers I work with have written grants to gain furniture and supplies for their classrooms to run smoothly and efficiently.
My coworkers have suggested I use this program to help bring supplies for my classroom as they have.
My Project
It is really difficult to have art classes back to back without setup, clean up. I have 30 brushes that are available and ready to use, for the first art class and the class after my lunch. The other classes have to wait for me or a willing student to wash the paint brushes out and let them air dry. Class is only 30 mins long so to be productive I have to cut each class five minutes for cleanup, doesn't leave time to wash and rinse 30 brushes out so that they are ready for the next class.
We are requesting three sets of paint brushes, two that alternate during the day so students can actually use dry quality brushes that are clean and ready to use.
With the third set used to resupply the brush cup, as paint brushes wear out I can replace them slowly. We are also requesting sculpture wire.
