Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a 3rd grade teacher of an economically challenged school district, I have experience in first hand the need of our students. Our students are faced with many challenges in the classroom as well in their own homes. About ninety-seven percent of our students are of low social economic status. Despite the challenges my students face everyday, they are full of excitement and eagerness to learn. Therefore as their teacher I feel responsible to seek help to provide meaningful experiences, and a positive environment for them to learn.

My Project

My students jump at the first opportunity of learning away from sitting on those hard classroom chairs. I am a true supporter flexible seating because this allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. My students enjoy to seat on the carpet, on pillows, on the floor, basically in many places but their desk. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. I have noticed amazing their engagement when working when they are given a choice in their seating. I would like to provide my students with the opportunity to learn in a flexible seating environment. I can imagine the excitement on their little faces when they see these awesome resources available to them.
