Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students experience difficulties, both academically and socially. Their problems relate to their home situations, financial stability, poor parental involvement and lack of motivation. This transfers negatively to their learning. As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, I would like my students to experience learning in an enjoyable environment. I want to provide activities where they will be engaged and thrilled and get the chance to change their negative feelings about learning into positive ones.

My students need to believe in themselves.

They need to know that they can be creative thinkers and assets to the community.

My Project

My students from Puerto Rico are still adjusting from the stressful situation they experienced from Hurricane Maria. I feel privileged to lend a helping hand by accommodating these displaced students to my classroom. This is one of the reasons why I am requesting the display cart. The cart would assist the students as they work in small groups; their preparation and planning time would be reduced each day because they would use the storage bins to set up their activities ahead of time. Also, they would not have to waste time getting paper to write since they can use the dry erase board. The cart is the ideal tool to solve their problems.

I want them to be comfortable and prepared in their new setting and have the resources they need to be productive and engaged in their learning.

With a display cart, the students would be able to house their supplies, daily resources and materials needed for Differentiated Instruction. Things would be more accessible and organized. They would also be able to use the display board for small group discussions, solving problems, and playing games in different settings. It would eliminate wasted time, needing extra paper, and it would have them more engaged in activities.

Please help my kids keep their Differentiated Instruction area moving smoothly by giving them this cart. They would have one less thing to worry about and their day would would run more smoothly. We are thankful for your help and counting on your support.
