The evolution of technology is amazing! Just one iPod Touch will allow five students to listen to an audio book at the same time. Our current listening center is unreliable and has limited capabilities. An iPod Touch will help my students engage in every aspect of the reading process.
I teach 34 enthusiastic 2nd graders each day.
These students love to work cooperatively and learn through exploration, but most of all they love technology!!! Throughout this school year my students have become adept at using technology such as educational blogs, podcasts, laptop computers, Microsoft Word, and digital cameras. I incorporate technology into every curriculum area each day.
My Project
With the use of an inexpensive splitter, one iPod Touch allows 5 students to listen at the same time. The iPod Touch also has hundreds of educational apps including online dictionaries, language translators, math games, audio books, and so much more. One great example is that students will be able to record themselves reading books and then listen to the recording with their friends. This allows students to monitor their reading progress and build reading fluency. If that's not enough, the new 4G iPod Touch features a video camera and digital camera. This means that students can take photographs, create movies, and edit movies using the iMovie app.
