This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 18 pre-kindergartners who are very energetic. My 4-5-year-olds are very curious and one of the most creative classes I have had. For some of my children, this is their first time in a school building. It is also the first time they are socializing with children their own age due to the pandemic. They are so excited to learn new things every day!

My children love to explore books, they love creative play and building tall structures whether it be from blocks or other building toys.

Each day these little ones come to school ready to meet their friends and give a welcome hug to whoever enters our room.

My Project

We have all heard of the summer slide, where children lose a lot of what they have learned throughout the year during the summer months. My children are working so hard this year and it would be dreadful if it were all lost because they didn't have the right tools to keep them engaged in learning over the summer.

The tools included in these kits: foam letters, crayons, manipulatives, and more, will be just the tools my children will need to keep them interested in learning and help them transition back to school in the fall.

Nobody knows what the fall will look like but with your help, we will know one thing, we will have helped prevent the summer slide. With your help, my children will receive a backpack filled with engaging supplies after a year that is bringing so much learning both academically and socially. Due to your generosity, each child will receive a "gift of love" as they leave Pre-K and venture off to Kindergarten.
