Help me give my students a DVD player to watch movies about science and other fun curriculum topics like Beatrix Potter and science readers to use for informational reading and writing.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school with kids who are excited about school and want to learn. They are inquisitive and creative kids. They come from low income families and deserve to have wonderful things just for them.
We LOVE the Magic School Bus, Beatrix Potter, Clifford, and many other classics that our teacher has on DVDs, but we cannot watch them because we have no DVD player.
My Project
Whether we are learning about the weather, life cycles, or recycling, the Magic School Bus has an amazing lesson to share with us. Unfortunately, we do not have a DVD player to show these amazing programs. We have to try to watch them on Youtube when it will play it. When it does, we have to be careful to turn off the sound and video camera during the commercials which is distracting. We do not watch many videos, but when we do, they are educational and we have to write about them when we are done watching them. We are excited to watch Beatrix Potter, Clifford, and Dr. Seuss too! We are also excited to read the Scholastic books about science to learn about informational texts and to use them for informational writing!
