Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located within the inner city. We serve over 800 students with over 90% receiving free or reduced rate lunch. We have a mixture of ethnic backgrounds. My students are gifted and talented and are eager to explore the world around them using various technology and real world tools.
My students love learning and sharing their knowledge with listening ears!
I want to offer more authentic learning opportunities. As they develop their ideas of what they want to be in the future, I want them having experiences today that offer them a plethora of options. Students should be encouraged to aspire to be anything they want regardless of economic status or limited by their lack of opportunities.
My Project
Students love science. I would love to bring real world experiences to them daily. You can tell students a great deal, you can even show them, but many times they are not totally engaged. The owl pellets being requested will give the students a great time of learning and awesome stories to share with family and friends. Students will explore real bones and animals and use the science we spend time talking about.
My students come in with a lot of content knowledge already.
So they are looking to apply that knowledge. Helping me bring that experience in for my kids will be fabulous. I look forward to eager students who also get excited about sharing knowledge with others. This will also allow them to work with various science tools which is what ALL students need time to do. I look forward to this project being funded!
