Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
During this coronavirus pandemic, my students have been extremely impacted. My students have not only been displaced from the school building, but for some, school was a place of safety. I teach students with disabilities. This alone is one challenge that we'd never thought we'd have to face, by teaching and learning from home. My students have devices that were provided by the school, but some them do not have the accommodations needed in order to create a "classroom" environment at home.
My students have special needs and special abilities.
They come from a community where they all receive free lunch and breakfast. Some can barely afford school supplies. With children who are two to three grade levels behind, I'm left to get them to a point of growth. Supplying my students with classroom resources will give them the hope they need to realize that success is at their fingertips, even from home.
My Project
During this pandemic, my students who have iPads had a frustrating time keeping up with their remote learning. With the stress and difficulty due to our unfortunate circumstances, I want them to know that learning remotely is fun and engaging, opposed to being frustrating.
In teaching students with disabilities differentiation is needed for academic success.
Some of my students have laptops and others use an iPad. I am not able to support my students who have iPads, with their remote learning because I only have a laptop. Please help me support my students for the next school year as distance learning looks like it will be a part of our new norm.
