My students are the best! They are always ready and willing to learn! In my classroom, I assist students who have disabilities which include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD as well as specific learning disabilities in reading or math. They often have difficulty completing the tasks required for each subject area. Technology has become a large part of the learning platform; however, this presents other challenges.
Due to their disabilities, my students needs some extra help.
My students benefit from the use of technology in my classroom. This project will help me address the sensory issues that go along with the use of technology. Using mice instead of touchpads will help to overcome some of the tactile and sensory issues that my students face. The use of headphones instead of speakers will help cut down on distractions and allow students to become immersed in the tasks at hand.
My Project
My students use Chromebooks regularly and have various sensory processing disorders. Their issues can range from an oversensitivity to noise to an inability to focus due to overstimulation. If there is too much equipment and unnecessary distraction, they have difficulty maintaining focus and completing the tasks. The wireless equipment purchased will provide them with a more fluid learning experience which will, in turn, increase their ability to be successful.
Wireless tech accessories will provide an environment which is more conducive to their individual learning styles.
