"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi said, and my students apply this quote in my classroom and dream big every day.
My students are low economic, minority students.
They are mostly from single parent households and need as much attention as they can get. They are the most loving and appreciative students that I have ever taught. Usually, a hug or small eraser can make their day. However, most of them are very slow and low learners that require much help and scaffolding. Though it has been a challenge to teach to where they understand, I feel like most of the time it is because they don't have the technology that they need to help them reach their full potential.
My Project
As a first year teacher and fresh out of college, I have the drive and determination to inspire my students through every road needed. In this age of advanced technology, I feel that it is imperative for my students to explore every piece of technology possible. Being at a low income school, my students are held back because their home lives can't provide the technology that the rest of the world is thriving on. Through this piece of technology, I will be able to fully engage my students and their learning. They will be able to work off the SmartBoard from anywhere in the room, and I will be able to work with them one on one without having to walk back and forth to the board.
I believe through this piece of technology, the students will be able to see how technology really is changing the world.
Through this, students will have a teacher that is free to help as soon as they don't understand, rather than being stuck at the board. I will also be able to have the student write on the tablet, thus giving them the chance to genuinely participate in their learning.
