This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school serves almost 400 New York City public school students. Ninety-four percent of the population are minority students. Eighty percent qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch. About 30% are students with disabilities and English Language Learners.

We are a school that specializes in academics, and business.

We promote college and career readiness through financial literacy programs with year-round experiences that include many work-based and service-learning opportunities for all our hard-working students including those economically disadvantaged and students with special needs.

With our simulated business curriculum our students manage and run their own virtual company. Typically, student employees actively compete all year in a wide range of competitions such as the National Business Plan Competition, Ad Futures, Mini Networking Events, Branding, Salesmanship, E-Commerce Website, Catalog, Video, Global Business Challenge, and NYC Trade Show. However; many of these off- due to Covid-19 cancellations and restrictions many of our students will be working remotely from home.

My students need a wireless printer so that they can print directly from their devices. Having a wireless printer will allow students having more to still collaborate, contribute and submit their documents and graphs, etc. even though they are not in the classroom.

My Project

Having a wireless printer will allow my students to collaborate with their peers, contribute to their groups and/or departments and submit their necessary financial documents whether they are in the classroom or from home using remote models and/or devices.

Having a wireless printer compatible with all devices provides equity of resources; everyone in the class can collaborate and contribute.

In addition, it keeps high risk, remote learners safer because they do not have to run around to neighbors and crowded businesses to try to print classwork to submit at a later date. With a wireless device, documents can be immediately sent for meaningful feedback.
