Help me give my students wireless headphones to ensure they can hear only their Chromebook during computer time. We will use our headphones during phonics, reading, and even learning English for my ELL students.
Located in West Valley City, the kindergarten students this year have seen it all! Not only did they watch with young eyes the world shut down, they were toddlers in quarantine, and attended preschool in masks. Many of the students in my class this year were not able to attend preschool, or missed many days due to exposure and quarantine. The ones who did, learned the basics of reading and speaking all while wearing masks.
Although they have grown up in a world with COVID-19 being all they remember, it does not discourage them from working together (socially distanced), staying curious, and learning what it takes to be a successful student.
These students surprise me everyday with their kindness, generosity, concern for others and love of school and learning!
My Project
The kindergarten students in our classroom are excited about all subjects in school but especially learning technology! Because we are masked and distanced in our classroom, utilizing our classroom Chromebooks is the best way for students to get the one on one support they need.
Technology is second nature for kindergarteners, but they need your support for it to be best utilized in our classroom with wireless, noise cancelling headphones.
We spend time each day with high quality research based programs to improve their literacy skills including phonics, early reading skills, comprehension and speaking and listening.
Even with regular headphones this can be difficult in a classroom with all the students "talking" to their computer to practice the skills out loud at the same time. Another problem with wired headsets in lower grades is that the plug breaks off in the computer which requires time lost in repairs or replacement.
The wireless and noise cancelling features will be exactly what my students need to help them learn and practice the basic skills to build a foundation of reading, speaking and listening.
