This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the best job in the world! I have the privilege of working with 20 Pre-Kindergarten students who come to school every day with a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world they live in. For many, this is their first time attending school and it is very rewarding for me to watch them develop. It is my privilege to use their inquisitiveness to help prepare them for the world that we live in, a world that continues to rely more and more on individuals who are proficient in the use of technology.

Although my students are a diverse group of children who come from all types of cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, they share a universal love of learning, especially learning through technology.

It is fascinating to see how much more engaged my students are in technology-based lessons. Consequently, I always try to find ways to incorporate technology into my lesson planning and try to expose my students to lessons that include the use of an interactive white board, iPads and computers.

My Project

Our classroom has a computer center comprised of three computers with educational software that includes an exceptional early reading, math and science learning program. This personalized learning software program adapts automatically to give each student a unique learning experience which is tailored to his or her own skill level and pace.

My goal is to have all the students visit the computer center on a daily basis so that each child has access to our computers' technology-based educational software.

Additionally, I would like to maximize each students' learning time while visiting this center. Consequently, I would like to add a wireless mouse and keyboard to each computer so that students can focus on what they are learning rather than trying to untangle the many keyboard and mouse wires that distract from their learning experience. The wireless keyboard and mouse sets would help my students increase their focus and enrich their learning experience.
