My Project
I am a Speech-Language Pathologist working in a District 75 school within the NYC Department of Education, and I have the privilege of supporting many incredible autistic students on my caseload. These students are not only inspirational and driven—they are also funny, compassionate, gentle souls who show up each day with honesty and heart. Many come from under-resourced communities and face significant challenges outside of school, yet they continue to amaze me with their resilience, creativity, and eagerness to grow.
To help them reach their full potential, I’m seeking support to purchase a MacBook and essential Cricut-building tools to create hands-on tech, robotics, and business-focused clubs.
These materials will allow our students to explore electronics, problem-solving, and innovation in a way that feels empowering and fun. The MacBook will serve as a powerful resource for learning everything from coding to digital art, as well as using business management software and booking platforms. We also aim to teach students website creation and online ordering systems so they can manage their own small business projects—learning how to take orders, organize events, and track sales. Through these experiences, students will gain real-world vocational skills that can one day lead to employment, entrepreneurial ventures, or further education. These clubs will also provide opportunities to collaborate with other schools across our sites, creating student-led businesses and fundraising efforts to support school events, educational trips, and classroom enrichment.
