Each day I want my students to not only gain knowledge of content standards, but I also want them to be intrigued and curious about what the world has to offer them beyond textbooks and their current role models.
I teach 5th grade at a Title I school, where approximately 800 students attend. Each day I deliver reading, language arts, and writing instruction to 55 students. A majority of the students live in poverty households with no Internet service, technology, or any imagination to what the future may hold for them. The only time they have access to technology and rich literature is at school. Students are extremely motivated when they have the opportunity to be exposed to all components of technology.
My Project
Students often experience difficulty manipulating touch pads on laptops and having wired mice will help make their learning experience go much less frustrating for them. Without computer mice, students technology task take much longer to complete and usually have more errors than those who have access to work with mice verses the touch pads. Students will be using the mice daily when using computers for all subjects of learning. Students will be able to hover over technology components and access special features of programs that they likely will not able to do having to use only a touch pad. These additional mice will also help provide equal learning opportunity in my classroom for all my students.
