My Project

One of the first activities of the year (Aug 2024) is always a get to know you project. To do this we will be making identity spoons out of armature wire, cloth, Modge Podge and embellishments. Spoons are a common everyday object that most everyone uses. Which creates a common connection between all students, but all students have had different experiences and memories. These spoons will be displayed together as a sort of installation to show our differences and connections as a community.

The wire, cloth and Modge Podge are the most important common materials that all students will need access to to create the base of their spoons.

We will spend time talking about structure, building blocks of 3d objects, and how we can apply 2d ideas like shape and color to a 3d object.

We will also then discuss how each of our backgrounds have influenced who we are, what we believe and how we act. Using a brainstorm and collection of objects from our lives, mementos and symbols, we will finish the spoon with embellishments that reflect those ideas. Finally concluding the project with a display and critiques where we compare and contrast the differences in the spoons and how it represents us as a community.
