Winter Weather Survival

My students need cleaning supplies for desks and hands. We also need snacks for students who do not eat breakfast or a full lunch. These life essentials will help so much!

My Students

Winter months can be difficult for my students. Once one person catches a cold, it seems to spread throughout the whole class. Supplies to clean our desks and hands will help the amount of germs which are spread to a minimum.

My second grade students come from a low socio-economic background.

They are excited about learning and school at this age and each day in school is important! I want to try to lessen the number of days students miss during the winter months due to colds and the flu. The school does not have enough funds to run as effectively as it should, therefore no cleaning supplies are given to teachers. Life essentials such as healthy snacks and bottled water will help my students who are hungry when they arrive to school. The cleaning supplies will keep the germs to a minimum in our room.

My Project

My students will be able to clean their desks off daily to eliminate the germs. Having access to various types of hand cleaners will keep their hands clean and germ free. Hand lotion will help combat the cold and soften little hands during the cold winter months. Healthy snacks are also needed for students who come to school hungry, or need a snack during the afternoon. My students will be able to focus in class and hopefully will miss fewer days due to colds and the flu.

I envision better student attendance during winter months and more focus for my students.

If students have the life essentials they need, they can do better in school. Students will be learning in a safe, clean environment.
