Winter STEM Exploration and Engagement!

Help me give my students amazing winter STEM activities to explore and engage, including sleds, LEGOs, and large poster paper to explain our designs.

My Project

This project will give my 4th and 5th grade students an amazing opportunity to engage in meaningful indoor and outdoor learning connected with STEM, an appreciation for the winter season in Minnesota, and opportunities to strengthen and develop community building and teamwork.

Students will brave the unpredictable Minnesota weather to experience the tradition of sledding through STEM lessons in the winter environment, where they will explore engineering and force.

I am also requesting LEGO dots--a new invention by LEGO (so excited!), Pix Brix, a new building blocks and huge sticky paper that we can use to share our plans. With the LEGOs, sleds, Pix Brix and the poster paper, my students will participate as a team to conduct Science/Engineering experiments. They can get a new appreciation for winter, indoors and outside. Students get to exercise their brains (and bodies), and will continue to work on social-emotional skills as students share the sleds and build friendships.
