Winter Cold Is No Joke - Gloves For Teens

My Project

My students have been through a lot in their young lives. Their determination and ambition are inspiring. But it's their unfailing kindness and empathy that make me want to be a better teacher. I try to offer them support in many different ways and every year it's the same - they have no idea what it means when we say, "Winter is coming." They are from countries and regions where winter is not cold. In their home countries, they have not needed any type of cold weather protection and don't know what they need to make it through our frigid Missouri winters. That wind can be a killer. It isn't all terrible, though.

This winter, many of my students will see snow for the first time.

This is amazing and I love their reactions when it starts snowing during the school day. They can't believe how beautiful it is! But when we head outside to go to the other building for lunch, or when we arrive and dismiss at the busses, they are very upset about the cold.

They need these gloves for the cold weather that is already here. Help me make sure their fingers can stay toasty at the bus stop or walking to school, but also while creating those amazing childhood memories of snow angels and building snowmen.
