When you take a peek at my classroom you will see eager faces, ready to learn. You will see students who enjoy sharing laughter with their peers, putting their problem-solving skills to use with STEAM activities, creating artwork, and playing with their friends.
I am requesting books for Inchy, our book vending machine to increase literacy and inspire creativity!
There are two things that many students at our school love to do! One is to read, and the other is to create. I am requesting 57 different titles for Inchy. These books will serve two purposes. The first is they will get the students at our school reading. The second is they will get our students creating. These books will be mentor texts that our students will use to create their own stories, they will be models for illustrations, and they will inspire book projects where students will creatively share what the stories they have read.
In order to reach every student, I am asking for a wide selection of books. Who Would Win and Weird Sea Creatures will appeal to our nonfiction readers. Graphic novels like I Survived and The Baby-Sitters Club are very popular with our students. Graphic novels are fun to read and the pictures are engaging. Hachiko Waits, Old Yeller, and The Puppy Place will appeal to our animal lovers. Our gamers will be excited to see Pokemon, Minecraft, and I Spy books. Wings of Fire is very popular with our students.
Through this project our students will be able to let their creativity shine. They will read a book and the decide how to share the stories they read. They can use crayons, colored pencils, markers, technology, fabric, and more. I can't wait to see what they create!
