Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I love my students because they are passionate about learning beyond what they know. My students are my glimpse of the future. They have real aspirations to become better than their parents and grandparents. They are fascinated by the world they have yet to experience. They often ask inquisitive questions about places and things they desire to see. They often escape the limits of their world by turning the pages in the history book and analyze maps of countries they never realized existed before their World History I class. Consequently, many only have limited access to the windows to the world because of our limited access to technology. Some have cell phones but do not have unlimited data.

It is a fantastic feeling to witness my students learn about a different part of the world.

When they are engaged, it is as if someone turned on a switch. Their minds beings the process of exploration and curiosity, which leads to endless possibilities. Having full access to technology in my classroom can change the lives of my students.

My Project

Having Chromebooks in the classroom will transform a paper base lesson into engaging experiences. Students will be able to connect to places as they become interactive worksheets. They will be able to participate in a live classroom chat and discussions with other students across the world.

They will have continuous exposure to libraries of primary and secondary sources.

Students will be able to research their ideas and questions without wondering if our class has been assigned the Chromebook cart. They can go beyond looking at black and white maps. They will be able to view actual pictures, videos, and documentaries in real-time.
