This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are joyful, curious, and full of promise. They come from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, many of them speaking a heritage language at home, and they bring a richness of experience that enhances our classroom community. Every day, they show up eager to learn and grow, even when faced with challenges. They deserve resources that reflect their identities, support their language development, and empower them to see themselves as capable, confident learners.

These materials will help unlock the potential of my heritage language learners by making academic content more accessible and meaningful.

The project includes a map rug, multilingual books, visual dictionaries, sentence-building tools, and interactive learning games that provide differentiated, culturally relevant support. These items are not just supplies—they are bridges between home and school, languages and literacy, and confidence and achievement. By incorporating these tools into our classroom, I aim to foster bilingual pride, improve comprehension, and strengthen students' oral and written expression in both English and their heritage language.

This project aims to create an inclusive, affirming learning environment where all students feel seen, supported, and celebrated. What makes my students special is their resilience, deep connection to their families and cultures, and untapped linguistic gifts. With your support, we can build a classroom where every student’s voice matters and where their heritage is not just acknowledged but valued as a strength.
