I love holding books in my hands and thumbing through colorful pages, and this is something I would like all my students to experience. However, lack of space in the classroom and the inability to have multiple copies of favorite books makes an e-reader a worthwhile commodity.
My students are very bright and eager learners.
They come from all walks of life and various neighborhoods in NYC. I have 26 students in my 4th grade TAG class and we spend our days researching, exploring, discovering and learning. Some of my students do not have access to technological innovations at home. They rely on the opportunities in school to use high-tech equipment, such as e-readers.
My Project
While an e-reader will never take the place of a good book, it has the potential to access just about any book in print. The multimedia features enable it to speak, run video clips, and make literature come alive in ways that spark childrenâs imaginations.
In addition, with the use of our e-reader, my students will be able to become techno-savvy in this ever changing world. They will be able to access interactive magazines and newspapers, solve puzzles such as crosswords, sudoku, word clouds, and much more; allowing them to expand their knowledge beyond our four classroom walls.
I need to prepare my students for the future.
What better way to do this than by using a Nook e-reader with books? Books in different languages, books that are interactive, books that offer audio to help struggling readers, all these are possible using the Nook e-reader. I hope Donors Choose donors will agree.
