My Students

Our school sits on 350 acres. We are working to purposely utilize our space. My class already participates in a yearlong STEM project that focuses on wildlife/forestry management. Students research, plan, and set up observation areas to attract animals into their assigned habitats.

Our student population is 85% free and reduced-price lunch.

We are a rural community, and our students lack educational experiences of urban environments. Many of our students will pursue environmental careers. Therefore, it is important to create a sense of respect for the environment as they move into those careers.

My Project

The 4th-grade-yearlong project is tied to the Life Science Unit Ecosystems. The project's main focus is to collect data from observation sites. Field cameras will enhance our data collection, and students will be able to research and investigate as scientists. Students will also study the assigned habitat by measuring, sampling, and classify. We also examine if the moon affects animals or plants.

The donation of field cameras will improve our entire 4th grade by allowing us to collect data from our environmental collection sites.

This equipment will enhance the 4th grade Life Science standards by putting students into real-world applications.
