Wildcat Speech and Debate Creativity Supplies for Competition Boards
Help me give my students the supplies they need to create their infographics for speech and debate tournaments. Students create their stories on poster boards, being as creative with their topics as possible.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Wildcat Speech and Debate consists of three teams: Middle School, Novice/JV, and Varsity. Our teams have grown from 2 students to over 30 in less than 3 years. Our students have competed at the National Championships for the past three years; we're getting stronger as we progress as a family. There are about 12-15 competitive events they are trained for in class, yet to be successful in some of these events, we need supplies.
In speech categories, students use poster boards to explain passion topics.
The boards are not meant to be read, but to progress the story with manipulatives, areas that pull/push, and use eye-catching information to grab the audience's attention. Multiple boards are used to move from one main idea to the other, just as an essay would. The creativity that students pour into their posters makes informative speeches an extremely expressive event, capturing evidence-based ideas, and joining them with emotional pleas with plausible solutions to change our world. Our Wildcat orators are learning their craft, and are ready to take the next step!
The posters need to be transported from one competition room to the next, so cases and collapsable easels are part of the requirements for success. Many students can't get these supplies but would love to leap into such interesting tournaments. Having the supplies on hand will encourage students to speak from the heart, research both sides of the argument, become experts on the topic, sharing their perspectives with the world.
This list does not encompass everything we could purchase-there are more varieties of expression with specific supplies, but we need to start from one direction. Some students have so many brilliant ideas but remain without a conduit to reach the world. By supporting Wildcat Speech and Debate, you can help our kids soar!
