My Students
Our school is a fully funded Title I school located in a small rural community in middle Georgia. We serve a diverse ethnic population with 68 % of the total population receiving free and reduced lunch. My gifted students are culturally diverse and make up about 19% of the total population.
Our mission is to inspire, support, and prepare each student with a quality educational experience while building integrity and character to be successful and competitive in a global society.
My Project
My students need Sphero robots to complete an interdisciplinary team performance task.
After completing the literacy/ language arts component, the students will program the robots to travel a distance carrying an egg through obstacles without dropping it.
The activity was inspired by the book, " The Wild Robot", by Peter Brown. In the book, Roz the robot raises the gosling, Brightbill, from an egg after accidentally destroying his family.
The lesson is teaching students about survival and perseverance. Student mastery will be determined by the team's ability to successfully get the egg to safety in the shortest amount of time using either type of robot.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
