This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach language arts to a dynamic group of fifth-grade students who are passionate readers. Step into our classroom and you'll see students deeply engaged with a variety of texts tailored to their reading levels. They're not just building literacy skills; they’re also honing their learning strategies, communication abilities, and exploring topics that align with their unique interests.
Currently, we are reading The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, and my students are captivated by the story.
Literature like this sparks meaningful discussions and encourages critical thinking about relevant and important issues. These experiences are powerful motivators for young readers and lay a strong foundation for the more complex texts they will encounter in middle school.
Students thrive when they have access to high-quality, authentic books—novels they can hold, analyze, and discuss. To continue this journey, I’m seeking support to provide my students with copies of The Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown. This book will enrich their learning experience and deepen their love of reading.
