This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project aims to create an inclusive and adaptive physical education environment for students with physical and cognitive disabilities by integrating Nintendo Switch consoles and virtual reality (VR) technology into the curriculum.

Many of my students face challenges that prevent them from fully participating in traditional physical education activities, such as limited mobility or cognitive impairments.

By using the Nintendo Switch with its adaptive Joy-Con controllers, students can engage in various virtual sports like tennis, volleyball, and soccer, allowing them to experience the joy of physical activity in otherwise inaccessible ways. Additionally, the introduction of VR technology will enable students to participate in outdoor sports simulations, allowing them to engage in sports like soccer or tennis in a safe, controlled, and adaptable virtual environment. These tools are designed to meet students where they are physically and cognitively, boost their self-confidence, improve motor skills, and foster a sense of community and teamwork. With these technologies, all students will have the opportunity to succeed and find joy in physical activity, no matter their abilities.
