This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are in very structured school setting which works! However, with such a tilted path to education, we often miss letting our students shine with dance, drawing, and exercise. My students are thriving in mathematics but I want them to be balanced in all areas of there lives.

The majority come from broken homes.

They are terrific students. Our school is like a family to them. The kids are from the inner city and need support to overcome obstacles in their lives. We are in the Bronx. But our school is like a shining light for these students. They love to dance and move but in a structured school environment they do not get the chance unless they do clubs..

My Project

We are starting a club where many shy and introverted students need an outlet. Using a WII we plan on doing fitness competitions, Karaoke and dance outings. Students who never get connected with schools beside class will learn what it feels like to be part of a team. They will experience the dynamics of groups and the fun of competition. They will learn the social skills needed to work in groups and social skills needed to let your guard down.

Without your help, many needed unconnected students will never know what it feels like to be part of club or team.

They will miss out on learning needed social skills and how to learn to be balanced in life.
