Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and religions. They are very eager to learn and are always on their best behavior. My students come to school smiling each day, because they know they are receiving a quality education. I have students in my classroom who are very high learners, and I have students in my classroom who are struggling. My goal is to even the playing field as much as possible.

The school is very supportive in helping teachers and students.

They want what is best for the students and do as much as they can to help everyone. Although the school is helpful, it does not have the money to buy all of the materials that teachers need in their classroom.

My Project

My students are very wiggly and wobbly! They require many movement breaks and they have a hard time sitting still. Having flexible seating options in the classroom would help my students get the movement that they need, while still being able to access their learning.

Six-year-olds cannot be expected to sit still all day long.

Their bodies cannot handle that. Giving them these flexible seating options allows them to get out their wiggles at their table, while still getting their work done. The students can sit in the bean bag chair while enjoying a good book. Or they can use a cushion to sit on the floor and complete an activity with a partner.
