My Project
I currently have 25 students in my 3rd grade class at a Title 1 school. Being in a classroom that is almost 100 years old, we are very cramped with space and only have as many chairs as we do students in the class. When it is time for students to come to my small group table, they have to bring their chairs from their desks with them to the kidney table. Due to the tight quarters, this often takes a while to accomplish safely. There are up to 12 students at each transition time walking in opposite directions to the next station with their chairs in tow.
I am asking for 5 wobble stools that can permanently reside at my small group table.
My largest small group has 7 students, and I currently already have 2 stools. For the time being, my rule is that the students who have to travel the farthest across the room can sit on the 2 stools available while all others must come with a chair. Having an entire set of stools can ensure that students can transition safely and quickly with minimal learning time wasted.
This group of students especially LOVE math rotations! They have even said how they wish they had more time in their actual rotations because, by the time they get settled into their workspace with all of their materials and chairs, half of their time is up. I don’t want them to lose this love of small group instruction as it is so important to differentiate their learning. Our class would greatly appreciate any donation, big or small, that will get us closer to our set of stools!
