Wiggly Seats

Help me give my students materials that will promote movement throughout their day! The active wobble chairs, kick bands, and wobble cushion will allow students opportunities to wiggle even during times they are completing tasks at their tables.

My Students

Kindergarten is a fun and exciting year! In a short 9 months my students grow and learn so much. Many are entering school for the first time and I believe I want my students to find a love for learning and excitement to come to school each day. When my students enter the room each day I want to create an environment where they feel welcomed and comfortable.

My school serves students in grades K-12 and we are a Title I public school in Michigan.

For many of my students coming to school is what they look forward to most. I strive to make my classroom a creative and engaging place for these little learners.

My Project

In my classroom I allow my students choices in where they are to complete their work. We are often sitting on the carpet, laying on rugs on our bellies with clipboards, using bouncing balls, or at our tables. I want my students to be comfortable while they learn which I believe increases their stamina and work ethic. When students choose to be at their tables I still want to give them opportunities for movement. We currently do not have enough choices for all of the students in our classroom.The kick bands and wobble chairs would allow students to wiggle and move while they work. Having these movement opportunities for students is a safe way for them to move or wiggly.

The Thera-putty is also a great tool for any student to use during our school day to keep their body moving in a way that is safe and not distracting to other students in the classroom.

The materials we are asking for would not only benefit the students in my current classroom, but would benefit students in the future as well.
