My Students
My students are individuals. They all present themselves differently due to their disabilities. Everyday is an opportunity for each child to grow and feel amazing! Our students are taught to be proud of the things they accomplish every single day.
I teach at a Title I school in Arizona where roughly 70% of our students are receiving free and reduced breakfast and lunch.
My students are in a self contained classroom where the possibilities are endless! Each day they gain exposure to the campus through a wide variety of activities. Our goal is to set them up for success in every setting they encounter on campus.
My Project
Our students need movement to learn and flourish. We are constantly looking for new materials that will present the essential building blocks of learning in different styles that are individualized to fit our students needs.
We've researched and discovered that movement and technology are reaching our students on an extremely positive level.
We want to make sure that we are investing every opportunity to reach our children through these methods and we believe that these materials will allow us to do just that.
Tiggly is an interactive technology system that introduces the basics of learning which is perfect for our non-verbal students. This system would communicate with our students that are not yet able to speak in ways that we can't.
The body sock would allow some of our more aggressive students to have a safe space to receive sensory input in a positive manner.
These tools are simple but provide our students ways that they would not normally have.
