Were you the type of student who was on the go? Did you have the wiggles? Were you the student whose name was called several times a day to sit down or sit still? I was one of those students. Please help my kiddos with their wiggly little bodies.
We are an energetic, fun-loving, eager to learn bunch of 25 second graders.
Their little minds are filling up with knowledge and it is so exciting to be a witness to this process. They are making connections from one subject area to the next. They love Daily 5, Brain Pop Jr., Smart Board activities, and our hands-on, independent approach to learning. Our school is a warm, fun-loving, place filled with teachers who go the extra mile for our students who come from a wide-range of home environments. A majority of our students come to us hungry, tired, worried, and learning isn't always a priority due to their home lives. The baggage they carry each day to school can be very heavy on their hearts and minds.
My Project
I am requesting 3 Hokki stools for our classroom. The Hokki stools will be used at our guided reading table during our Daily 5 rotations. These stools will help my kiddos who have trouble concentrating while sitting in a traditional student chair. The stools will allow movement without putting themselves in danger of falling off their chairs, let them move without having to focus on how they are going to get the chair and their body to move, and improve their over-all self esteem.
Your donation will allow my students with wiggly bodies to feel good about themselves.
The stools will allow them to wiggle while reading, writing, and answering comprehension questions. However, the best part of this project is... all my students will have the opportunity to sit on these cool stools during the Daily 5 rotations. Wowza! I would have loved to have one of these cool stools in my classroom when I was in school. Hmmm...I just might try them out when they are out at recess. Shh..
