My students come to school every day excited about another day of learning. I know this by the smile and the conversations we have each morning. Each day we work hard together to know that as a team we can accomplish great things. With loving and supporting each other we work hard to make sure every student learns and grows together.
I teach third grade in Minnesota where a third of the students are low income.
I have fourteen wonderful students.
The students feel very fortunate and proud to come from a rural community where everyone cares for them and works hard to make a difference in their lives. We live in a town where most students know a majority of the community members. The students show their appreciation by working hard each and every day. We have many great opportunities for students living in a rural community, but students sometimes do miss some of the opportunities that urban areas may see due to funding.
My Project
When I first switched to flexible seating, I didn't have many options. Along with my principal, we went to the storage room and dusted off what we can find. The tables we found were sufficient, but old, big, and take up much of the room of a small classroom. This eliminates room to move and have activities.
By purchasing a table students will have the opportunity to get the wiggles and jiggles out of them and help eliminate unnecessary clutter!
A new table will give students a clean space to do their work. They will have room to move around and use seats that fit the table. Students will also have the opportunity to have more space in the classroom.
This is an exciting time in education. Flexible seating is helping many students who need movement to help them cognitively. Your donation will go a long ways toward this!
