I am privileged to teach second grade in a rural public school serving 500 students.

Because our school is in a community with a growing socioeconomic divide between the poor and wealthy, I strive daily to provide an equitable experience to all students. Second graders are always on the go. They are not meant to be stationary and still for long periods of time. For many students, when it is time to sit and get to work learning and concentrating, the hard chairs that we currently have in our classroom just don't do the trick.

My Project

I understand that kids need to move around a lot and therefore provide as many opportunities for movement and alternative work locations as possible. However, in this day and age, there are times that students are required to work quietly at desks or tables, which is a true struggle for many of my students. These ball chairs will be used as needed by students in my classroom to help them when working in a stationary location is necessary.

I believe that every child has the potential to do great things, and in second grade they are developing the roots needed to get out there and change the world.

Your donation will help make learning easier for students that would otherwise struggle to stay on task, to stay them rooted and to move forward in their growth cycle.
