Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am lucky to teach a group of 17 wonderful 3rd graders at a Title 1 school. Students at this school are living at or below the poverty level. While they are at school, these children are mathematicians, writers, scholars, and scientists. They are detectives, journalists, problem solvers, and great thinkers. Regardless of their circumstances, my students are always ready and excited to learn!
These students face challenges in their every day lives that some of us never have to face in our lifetime.
Although I cannot control what happens to them outside of school, I want to make sure they have the best possible experiences while they are in my care. I want to create a classroom environment that is safe, enriching, and positive so that my students can continue down the path of achievement and success. Every child deserves to have the best education we can provide them with and I strive to achieve this every day!
My Project
My students need a classroom that meets all of their needs, including their need for movement. Because of academic demands, my students have a small amount of time in their school day for physical activity. Flexible seating will provide them the ability to move, bounce, wobble, and wiggle while they are also getting work done!
Flexible seating options will help increase academic success and decrease restlessness and off-task behaviors.
No one wants to be confined to a desk all day. With your help, my students won't have to be and as a result, they will be better learners. These supplies would be a huge help and we will be forever grateful for them!
