Help me give my students comfortable seating like balance balls and wobble chairs that will help them relieve anxiety and stress while they attend to the demands of daily school work.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school everyday with an enthusiastic attitude about learning. I encourage my students to explore and ask questions about the world around them. The diverse personalities and cultures in my room add to the learning of our community.
My class consists of five and six year old students, most of whom are language learners.
Our school is a Title I school, where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Although some of my students may face challenges at home, they work together in our room to create a fun and collaborative learning environment. Working with my students is such a joy, which makes coming to school something I look forward to everyday.
My Project
Flexible seats in my classroom will help my students focus on their work by giving them a way to get the wiggles out without disrupting other students. I have observed a few of my students who are very active, proceed around the room frequently, which ends up interrupting other students.
Most of my students are active learners who love to dance and sing in the classroom.
They become engaged and seem to focus when they are able to move around easily.
The flexible seats will give my students the opportunity to move while staying in one place without getting out of their seats.
