My Students

Our school houses pre-K and kindergarten students. Our 4, 5 and 6 year old students love learning and are curious, creative and active. They are just beginning their academic careers at our school, and we are building the foundation of their academic success, so keeping them engaged is important.

Research has shown that flexible seating can help our young students academic performance all while burning calories and improving engagement and motivation.

Simple in-class activities can boost performance. Studies suggest that children who participate in short bouts of physical activity within the classroom have more on-task behavior with the best improvement seen in students who are least on-task initially.

We are a Title I school, which makes funds and resources limited. I want to be able to provide our students with the best opportunity for academic success.

My Project

During whole group learning it's hard to engage 22 minds at once. Giving students the ability to move within their assigned space is important. The wobble cushions and sensory stars will help my students focus on learning during whole group while allowing their bodies to get the movement they need.

Training students for future careers now means that they need more STEM learning in the classrooms.

The sensory bins will allow the little hands in my classroom the ability to engage their natural curiosity while also learning about the scientific processes. The costumes will allow student to fully engage in the roles of engineers and scientists. Role playing is important for young students. It helps build their problem solving, empathy and coping skills. Which are all important for their success in life no matter their career.
