This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Agriculture classroom lists probably look quite a bit more unique than some others. In this project, I hope to give my students the supplies that they need to continue their support of our aging classroom bunny Wilson, and for them to expand their journey with worm composting.

Our animal care team is comprised of responsible agriculture students who take care of our various animals on a day to day basis.

This care includes maintaining their food and water, ensuring that they have a clean space to live, and keeping them looking their best! As Wilson has aged, he has become a heavy shedder, so the addition of a small vacuum to our classroom will help keep the hairballs at bay, and the Swiffer refills will continue to help keep the messes at bay.

My students have also been experimenting with worm composting this year. Our system is running, but our worms are a bit slow. We started with a smaller number of worms, and now that everything has been running smoothly, we are excited to upgrade our worm population. The nutrient rich soil that the worms are producing from our food scraps will help keep our vegetables out on the farm growing beautiful and strong all year long!
