Wiggle Why You Work

My students need wiggle chairs. Wiggle chairs will allow movement that will keep their bodies more engaged, lessening the negative effects of extended sitting.

My Students

My favorite saying, “Once you learn to appreciate small victories, there is no need for a finish line.” This is true about my classroom. I 'm a Special Education Elementary Teacher. Everyday can be a challenging day for my students. Everyday we celebrate small victories and look forward.

I have worked with Special Needs students for 21 years and know that the small accomplishment can mean the world to this students.

My students are K - 6 students. They are my 2nd family. Many of them come to school because their home life isn't the best. When they enter our school they enter a caring, loving environment. I have made it my mission to make them love school and feel safe at school. Everyday they come in with a smile on their face and ready to work. But because of their disabilities they struggle to focus on their work for a long period of time. But we work together to make the day the best possible day it can be and always know that tomorrow can and will be better. We learn, laugh and celebrate our victories everyday!

My Project

The energy balls I have requested will help my students to move and focus. My students struggle with a variety of disabilities. Students with disabilities such as Autism and ADHD struggle to sit still and focus. The energy balls have great benefits for students: improve posture and muscle tone; increase motor control ( holding a pencil or scissors) increase blood flow, which allows more oxygen to the brain. When there is more oxygen to the brain, the brain function increases, allowing for improved focus. Last, but very important is burn off excess energy. Many of my lessons are done on the smartboard where my students sit on the carpet. These balls will provide the movement my students need to be more attentive in a learning environment.

These energy chairs in my classroom will allow my students to "Wiggle While They Work".

As I have stated above the energy balls have many benefits for students with disablilites. My goal that the energy ball chairs allow movement for my students. Movement will allow them to focus better and we will be able to celebrate more victories everyday. These students are not Special Needs students. They are students that need special love.
